FRSHWV student survey

Here is a link to the survey. This will help us get some insight from students about what they want. Let me know if you suggest any changes before we begin circulating it next week.

Hello All,

I had the opportunity to complete the Freshwave survey and have the following feedback. Please forgive me for being picky but I'm going through Stats class right now and formulating these questions precisely is part of my everyday nightmare at the moment lol. Hope this helps.

Best,

Dyshaun

Survey Feedback - Freshwave Music and Tech Festival

Questions about the survey:
Is the event restricted to students in grades 7 - 11th as these are the only options to select from in the info grab?

Also - is it worth adding a question asking for location of the survey taker or is this being distributed exclusively in Philadelphia?

Current Survey Feedback :

First set of questions,
Would you :
1. go to a teen music & tech festival?
2, Buy a festival pass
3. Try new products

Recommendations :

I recommend reformatting the questions here to gather more insightful data considering the target market. When marketing to teens we have to keep in mind that many teens don't make purchasing decisions themselves - rather it's their parents. Asking the teen if they would go, and if they would buy tickets is very dependent on what their parents will allow.

Also, a teen's interest can be provoked by elements featured at the event and through the marketing campaign rendering their current interest irrelevant. Asking for definitive answers on their interests, opinions and likes may prove to be inaccurate in the future.

I would also advise not including a maybe or other option whenever possible - these answers are basically inconclusive data

I highly recommend creating a survey for parents of teens and reframing the questions as such :

1. Do you allow your teen to attend music festivals ? (Multiple choice)
No, I don't allow my teen to go to music festivals
No, but I would likely allow them to go to one soon
Yes, but I only if I approve of the music festival
Yes, I have no problem with that

2. How much on average do you spend per concert, festival, movie, sports or other live entertainment passes for your teen?
a. $0, my teen pays for their own entertainment with work or allowance money
b. $5 -$10
c. $10 - $20
d. $20 - $50
e. $50 - $100

(We don't want to give options on what people are willing to pay as they will most likely always select the lowest option - instead set the price based on quality of the overall product and needed profit margins

3. would you like to try some new products -
I would eliminate this question. Most items listed are relatable and we can assume through consumer nature that most people will try product they have access to - the items should be selected based on resources vs perceived audience preference

4.What would you like your child to learn about the music or tech industry?
(Replacing : What workshops would you have?) (Provide a list of general topics for them to choose from)

Surveying the teens I recommend asking :

1. Have you ever been to a music festival before? (Multiple choice)
No, I don't like music festivals
No, but I would like to go to one soon
Yes, but I don't like music festivals
Yes, I would like to go to another one soon

This question will provide information on the audience's true experience with festivals and interest in repeating the experience or not  - providing extra detail as to what kind of festival would only confuse the survey taker as they have no frame of reference on what to expect from a music + tech fest. Generalizing creates a larger frame of reference.

2. On average how many festivals or concerts do you go to per year?
a. I have never been to a festival or concert
b. I . went to a festival or concert once or twice but I don't go often.
c. I go to 1 or 2 festivals or concert every year
d. I go to 2 or more festivals every year

3. What would you like to learn about the music and tech industries? (Replacing : What workshops would you have?)  (Provide a list of general topics for them to choose from)
